Lifetime member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Grew up outside the Wasatch front (Central Illinois). Attended BYU and received degrees in Japanese and Mechanical Engineering. Currently working for an engineering software company. Married, with four young children. As an adult, has lived (with his family) in Southern California, Japan, and Arizona.
